James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

PERFECT in The Old (3) and New Testament (9)

I. In the Old Testament (3): Hebrew

a. sha lem finished,whole,complete,

used of persons who have a “perfect heart,” that is  wholly or completely devoted to Yahweh

1 Kings 8:61 But your hearts must be (perfect )fully committed to the Lord our God, to live by his decrees and obey his commands, as at this time.”

Application: Do you have a completely devoted heart

b. ta mim unblemished, blameless

“As for God, his way is perfect” (Ps 18:30);

“The law of Yahweh is perfect” (Ps 19:7),

Application: Are you living out God’s perfect plan and purpose for your life?

c. ka lil, complete,

Ps 37:37 Notice the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

Application: Are you living out God’s plan and purpose for your life?

 

II. New Testament (9) Greek

1. te le i os, Christ to perfect, to end complete Luke 13:32, “The third day I am perfected, end my course”

2. e pi te leo, You to bring through to an end 2 Cor 7:1, “perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Application: Are you at the end of your life? Then you are not perfect… you are in the process of holiness.

3. ka tar ti zo You to make ready

Luke 6:40, “Every one when he is perfected shall be as his teacher”

Application: Are you prepared to teach and train others? Then you are not perfect… you are in the process of becoming ready.

4. Ak ri bos Christ and you “accurately, diligently, having been traced accurately

Luke 1:3, “having had perfect understanding,

Application: Do you look, act, and talk like Jesus?

5. ar tios You “fitted,”

Eph 6:15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

Application: Are you fitted with what you need to serve like Jesus?

6. ple roo Warning to you to fill, to make full fulfilled

Rev 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

Application: Are you fulfilled in what you are doing?

7. ka tar tis mos, You complete adjustment,

Eph 4:12, “for the perfecting of the saints”

Application: Are you in you in tune with what God wants you to do?

8. te le i o tes You fitness, full growth

2 Cor 13:9 We are glad whenever we are weak but you are strong; and our prayer is for your perfection.

Application: Are you spiritually fit for the purpose and will that God has for your life?

9. Te les pho reo You  perfection

Matt 5:48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Conclusion:

The Perfect Gift from God came to the earth to make us perfect for His purpose and plan for saving the world through His Son Jesus Christ by:

Finished, whole, complete, sound or unblemished, blameless, enduring  to the end, completely perfected into one,  to be made ready, to restore,  to be accurately fitted, to be fulfilled, completely adjusted with fitness and full growth maturity.
