It’s What’s On The Outside That Counts

It’s What’s On The Outside That Counts

February 11, 2018 – This week Interim Pastor Larry Wynn’s sermon is on Acts Chapter 3.  The sermon discusses how churches today must act differently because we are held to a different level of accountability.  The old adage that “it’s what’s on the inside that counts” doesn’t fit what God calls us to do.  When it comes to the church…it’s what’s on the outside that counts and how we interact with the community around us.  If we truly believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is transformative  and changes people when they come to know God, then our outer actions must show this.

For the church there are 3 key principles we must follow:

  1. The church is to be on mission for God. The church is about our MISSION and not our comfort or feelings. God gave us this mission…to make disciples of all nations, to baptize them in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and teach them everything God has commanded us to do.
  2. The church is not about the building…it is about the Spirit within. It’s not about the people AT church, it’s about the people NOT AT church. If we don’t exist for outsiders…then we have no reason to exist at all.
  3. The church has the privilege to reach people. We need to act like care for people that don’t know Christ.
