Clarifying Our Mission

Clarifying Our Mission

Matthew 28:18-20, Hebrews 12:1-2

18Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.19Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

Our mission clarified:

Riverbend exists to lead people to discover new life in Jesus Christ.

1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Hebrews 12:1-2

Things that get the church off mission:

Weights = Good things that holds us back from God things.

Sins = Anything that grieves the Holy Spirit or dis-unifies the church.

The focal point that unifies us: Jesus

Riverbend Values: (What we will be known for)
